Location & ENVIRONMENT
Are the kittens raised in your home?
Yes! All kittens are born in our bedroom, where they stay for the first couple of weeks. At 4 weeks, they move to a bigger enclosure in the nursery. That is where they learn to walk, eat solids and are litter trained. After successful house training, they gain access to larger areas of the living spaces in our home.
All cats & kittens are monitored closely via cameras when we are not home or sleeping. Grouping of our cats is based on age, relationships, and needs. Our king joins the other cats during the day and has his own XL catio for nighttime hours.
Can I visit your home to meet the cats/kittens?
After you have put in an application, you will receive and e-mail to set up a phone interview. At the time of the phone interview, I am happy to Face-Time so you can see the cats and their environment. We do not offer in-home visits for the safety of our cats and my family.
How do you socialize the kittens?
Our kittens are raised right in our home, so they grow up fully immersed in everyday family life—household noises, movement, and regular handling are all part of their normal environment. They are gently handled daily and receive lots of love and interaction, including playtime and snuggles with my 9-year-old daughter, which helps them become especially comfortable with children.
Kittens also learn a great deal from their mother and the other cats in our home, naturally picking up confident, affectionate behaviors. Because of this, I place a strong emphasis on selecting Queens and Kings with exceptional temperaments, ensuring those wonderful personality traits are passed on to each kitten.
Where are you located?
Pounce Maine Coon Cattery is located in Chicago, Illinois. If you live outside of that area, we offer reliable and trustworthy delivery services anywhere in the USA and beyond! Our travel nannies stay with your kitten from the moment they leave the cattery.
What items are important for Maine Coon enrichment?
Each cat/kitten will have individual needs that I will prep you for. Enrichment comes from play interaction, verbal and physical communication with other animals and humans in the home and objects. Listening and communicating with your cat is very important. Providing territory items like cat trees, hutches, beds, hideouts, scratching posts and individual food & litter items contribute to a sense of ownership and belonging within the house. Nutrition is very important for felines and should include a variety of protein sources and limited ingredients to avoid obesity, heart disease, poor dental hygiene. Offering exciting meals and treats will contribute to a healthy mental space for your feline friend.

What food do you feed?
Over the years we have tried all kinds of cat food. Currently, we are focusing on feeding as much of a raw diet that we can. All of our cats are also introduced to kibble and canned food. We like to rotate proteins and try new varieties in an effort to avoid allergies and stubborn preferences. Treats are provided in the form of frozen prey and freeze dried treats.
